#235 - in which Steve joins a cult

This is my first attempt at using the new Beaver and Steve font (kindly provided by a wonderful reader) - it's not a perfect match to the old style, but hopefully once I get the hang of it the whole process will become a lot quicker and easier.

Did I tell you guys already that Beaver and Steve shirts are back in stock in all sizes ? Because they are! There aren't an awful lot available though, so if you are thinking of buying one don't leave it too long or you might not get the size you want.

I've actually had a fairly productive few days - as well as getting to grips with the new font I've done a guest strip for another comic (more on that later), started work on a new shirt design, and begun my first ever comissioned art work - you can see a portion of what I've done on it so far by voting for the comic . I'll be putting a new bit of it up each day if you want to keep voting, or you can just wait a while for me to turn it into a wallpaper or a poster or something.

#236 - little red riding steve - part 1

Hello everyone! Did you know I was away from work for 2 weeks recovering from all those 6 day weeks on that last project? Well I was! I am back at work now (boo! hiss!), but I did not spend those two weeks idly!

As well as the comissioned artwork (which you can see the next bit of by voting here), I have done a guest strip for the lovely Multiplex (which you can see by clicking here. Unless it's not tuesday anymore in which case you might need to click here), AND I have worked on some t-shirt designs too! Since you are all my special friends I will even give you a super secret sneak preview of the two designs I have so far. Let me know what you think - be critical!

Shirt design #1: Shoe information

Shirt design #2: LOVE

the LOVE swatch

I think I love them all, but I have to pick a colour by the end of this week if I want to be able to ship for christmas. Though I'd like to make every shirt I make brown my commercial instincts suggest that a dark green one might open the market up a bit more. Then stick with red for the shoes shirt? M-maybe? I am not really very good at this whole design thing. I should have stuck with maths.

#237 - little red riding Steve - part 2

I'm quite pleased with this one even though I was up til 2 am finishng it off (and yes, it's still not actually finished).

Shirt news! I am still undecided about colours for either of the shirts, but I have to submit it today, and even then I think it's unlikely that they'll get printed in time to ship to anywhere outside the US in time for christmas. Bah humbug!

I have however redone the text on the LOVE shirt to make it look more romantic. Aw!

Better? Worse? And as if there weren't already enough colours to chose from this one's on khaki.

#238 - ex-stinked - part 1

Hey, here's tuesday's update! On wednesday! I'm not sure if the new font is actually saving me any time (I finished this strip around 3am...), but it did atleast let me keep editing the script right up until the last minute, and I probably wouldn't have spent so long on the backgrounds if I had to worry about hand lettering as well. I hope you can read panel 5!

The shirts have been ordered and should be ready to ship around the start of december. That probably means they'll be too late to ship anywhere outside the US, but I'll keep you updated on developments as they happen!

#239 - ex-stinked - part 2

Somehow I was up til almost 4am finishing this, so yeah, no shading again. I'm not sure how it happened, but I don't think this is something I want to be doing regularly (my body requires an everage of 12 hours sleep a day to function properly. I'm part sloth.), so I'll have to try to figure out what's taking so long. Hopefully it's not the digital text - I'm enjoying being able to edit it right up 'til the last minute. It's probably just filling in all those silly backgrounds - I should go back to having everyone just floating in blue space. I can claim it's minimalistic.

Anyway, I hope the time wasn't a total waste and you actually enjoy the comic a little! If you do why not tell a friend? Give someone the gift of Beaver and Steve today: the gift that says 'I like lizards'.

And speaking of gifts if you want to order some lovely Beaver and Steve merchandise for christmas you only have a few weeks left! Here are the shipping deadlines:

BOOKS:
UK delivery: order before December 19th
delivery outside the UK: order before December 8th

T-SHIRTS:
US delivery: order before December 13th
delivery outside the US: order before November 30th

Hope that's all clear! New t-shirt designs are going to be coming soon, and preorders will start as soon as we've set up the shop page!

Have a good weekend! I am going to spend it SLEEPING.

EDIT: reprocussions? I really need to write the text before midnight in future...

#240 - anatomy of a pixie

This is tuesday's very late comic. Well, sort of comic - I've been struggling to finish off any comic ideas lately (I've got lots that are half finished, but can't work out how to finish them), so I thought I'd try something different (i.e less work). I'm not sure if I'll manage to finish another comic for tomorrow - we'll have to wait and see.
